Overview
Mount Meru is one of the main attractions of Arusha National Park. The entire climb takes at least three days. The trail takes trekkers through a series of natural environments, with diverse flora and fauna and an interesting mix of nature and culture. There is one route to the summit of Meru and it can be covered in three days, but four days is highly recommended for acclimatisation. Most climbers use Meru to acclimatise before climbing Kilimanjaro. There is less snow from volcanic eruptions on this mountain. Unlike Kilimanjaro, when climbing Mount Meru you will be accompanied by one or more armed rangers through Arusha National Park. At this point, you can take a walking safari past African buffalo, zebra, black and white colobus monkeys and much more wildlife.
