Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha, where you will meet your mountain guide and drive through the lush foothills of Kilimanjaro to the Marangu Gate, the starting point of your hike. After registration and a briefing from your guide, you will begin your trek through a beautiful rainforest zone filled with towering trees, hanging moss, and the calls of birds and monkeys echoing through the canopy. The trail is gentle and well-maintained, making it an enjoyable hike as you steadily ascend. Along the way, your guide will point out unique plants, wildlife, and share stories about the mountain’s rich history. After approximately 3–4 hours of hiking, you will reach Mandara Hut at 2,700 meters, a resting point surrounded by lush forest and clearings. Here you can enjoy a packed lunch, explore the Maundi Crater nearby for stunning views over northern Tanzania and into Kenya on clear days, and take in the fresh mountain air. In the afternoon, you will descend back to Marangu Gate, where your driver will be waiting to transfer you comfortably back to your hotel in Arusha completing a memorable day hike on Mount Kilimanjaro.
